Once the Old Provincial Hall during the reign of King Rama VI, the Trat City Museum stands as a symbol of heritage and resilience. The building’s architecture—a wooden structure with cement pillars, raised on a high foundation, and topped with a hip roof—reflects the elegance of its era. However, after a new provincial hall was built, the original structure was left unused and fell into disrepair.

In 1996, the Fine Arts Department officially registered the Old City Hall as a national historic site, recognizing its cultural significance. Tragedy struck in 2004, when a fire severely damaged the building. Determined to preserve its history, Trat Municipality allocated funds for restoration, ensuring the structure was faithfully rebuilt. Two years later, with the support of the Fine Arts Department, it reopened as the Trat City Museum, a vibrant center for learning about Trat’s history, traditions, and way of life.

Today, visitors can explore the rich past of Trat, from pivotal historical events to the customs and culture of the Trat people.
